Simplify rich graphic human machine interfaces and hard real time
Speaker: Martin Kiepfer, F&S Elektronik Systeme
Most projects moving from simple human machine interfaces (HMI) based on small displays running into problems when updating the product with rich graphic interface using an operating system like Linux, Android or Windows Embedded. In nearly all cases they lose the benefit of hard real time capabilities, communication throughput and the small code size which are important for certification. Some designs avoid this bottleneck by using a small microcontroller for critical tasks and a featured rich ARM Cortex for HMI. Others try to increase performance by double (quadruple) number of cores. In this paper we will present the different approaches and give a perspective to a new possibility.
